After the Western Area Planning Committee of the West Berkshire Committee make a decision on the Solar Farm planning application and if the application is granted the Trustees of the Enborne Parish Field Charity with Calleva Community Energy envisage holding a public meeting for all parishioners. Calleva will take this opportunity to explain the next steps.

Enborne Parish Field Charity Trustees

The Enborne Parish Field (EPF) is a 20-acre field owned by the Trustees of the EPF Charity.

The Parish Council, in line with many other institutions in West Berkshire, have undertaken to encourage the reduction of the Parish’s carbon footprint. As part of this initiative the Councillors/Trustees are considering siting solar panels on the EPF with the objective of generating electricity and reducing the carbon footprint of the Parish.

Historically, the field was for the benefit of the poor of the parish and a place where they could collect firewood. Today the field is predominantly unwooded and the Trustees currently rent the field out for grazing. This generates a small annual income which is slowly accumulating.

The EPF Charity’s objectives are “To promote any charitable purpose (charitable in English law) for the benefit of the residents of the parish of Enborne in West Berkshire; in particular but not exclusively by the provision of grants to local charities which provide advice and services calculated to relieve the charitable needs of those residents”.

On 13th March 2024,  EPF Charity members were invited to Newbury Town Council for the Environmental Contribution Civic Award Event. EPF were proudly presented as a nominee in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the Town of Newbury.
